Yes. All the main modes are free to play. Free players have an energy bar (3 games, then 1 energy every 30 minutes) and see ads between rounds. Game of the Day, TimeGuessr and EmojiGuessr don't use energy at all. VIP is an optional subscription (€2.99/month, with a 3-day free trial) that removes energy limits and ads and adds extra perks.

Not to get started: the first 5 levels of the Campaign and the Game of the Day work without an account. A free account is needed for the rest of the Campaign, GeoGamer, multiplayer and the Weekly Challenge, and to save your progress, your daily streak and your spot on the leaderboards. Sign up with email or in one click with Google or Discord.

GeoGuessr drops you into the real world with Street View. GameGuessr takes the same idea into video game worlds: you explore a 360° panorama captured inside a game (Zelda, Elden Ring, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2…), name the game, then drop your pin on its map. The closer your pin is to the real spot, the more points you score. GameGuessr is an independent project, not affiliated with GeoGuessr.

The Library holds 900+ games, from all-time classics to recent releases: action, RPG, open world, FPS, racing, horror, 2D and indie games… Every game has its own page (cover, platforms, release year, community rating and mystery screenshots). New games and panoramas are added all the time, largely thanks to players.

Computer, tablet and smartphone, straight from your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge…). There is nothing to download or install. On mobile, you can add GameGuessr to your home screen and launch it like an app.

A GeoGamer game has 10 rounds. Each round, you explore a 360° panorama by turning the view in every direction, type the name of the game (suggestions pop up and you have 3 lives), then the game's map opens: drop your pin where you think the view was taken. You score points for the right answer, for pin accuracy and for speed. Before starting, you pick the timer and the difficulty (random, progressive or constant from 1 to 5).

Yes, with Pick Your Games in the GeoGamer settings: select exactly the games you want from a searchable list that shows how many locations each one has. Since you already know the game, you go straight to the map to find the spot. From the Library, the "Play only this game" button also starts a round on a single title. Perfect for mastering your favorite game.

The Campaign has 58 levels of rising difficulty, with unique panoramas that never repeat from one level to another. You need at least 8 correct answers out of 10 to move on. The first 5 levels are free and need no account; after that, each level costs 1 energy (unlimited for VIP). Every 5 levels, a milestone rewards you with coins, and sometimes energy.

Every day, the same 360° panorama for every player. You get 5 tries to name the game, then you pin the spot on the map; even if you miss the name, your pin can still earn you points. The score is out of 4,000 points: correct answer + pin accuracy + speed. The Game of the Day is free, uses no energy and works without an account; with an account, you keep your daily streak going and appear on the daily leaderboard, which resets at midnight.

The Weekly Challenge runs Monday to Sunday. You get 1 try per day (1 energy for free players) and your scores add up over the week. At the end, the top player wins 1 month of VIP. If the winner is already VIP, the reward goes to the best non-VIP player, so everyone has a real shot.

At the end of every game, you can share your score as an image card.

In Maps, you only see the game's map, with no screenshot, and must recognize the game. In 2D Games, you guess 2D games (Terraria, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Stardew Valley…) from screenshots; when a screenshot has a map, you can also pin the spot for bonus points. Timer and difficulty are set before you start, and harder images are worth more points and coins.

It depends on the mode, but three things almost always count: naming the right game, your speed and, in map modes, your pin accuracy (the closer to the real spot, the more you score). Harder images are worth more. The end screen breaks down where every point came from. In the Game of the Day and EmojiGuessr, the maximum score is 4,000 points.

In Multiplayer, create a public or private lobby: your friends join with a 6-character code or an invite. You can also hop into an existing public lobby. Matches are played in real time, in GeoGamer, Classic or 2D Games. Free lobbies are 1v1 with a fixed timer; VIP players can create lobbies of up to 4 players, free-for-all or 2v2, and set the timer and difficulty. In casual matches, only the host spends 1 energy when starting (nothing if VIP).

Ranked mode unlocks at level 5. Every non-VIP player spends 1 energy when the match starts. Depending on your result, your ELO goes up or down: it measures your skill against other players and drives the multiplayer leaderboard and the guild rankings. Casual matches don't change your ELO.

Yes, with Challenge a Friend: after a GeoGamer game, generate a link that gives your friend the exact same images. They play whenever they want, then a "You vs. them" screen compares your scores. Challenges never affect your stats or best scores, and energy is spent as usual. Your wins show up in your friends' activity feed.

The Social page brings your friends and your guild together. Send a friend request to a player, then follow their activity (personal records, approved panoramas, challenge wins…) and see who's online thanks to the green dot. You can then invite friends straight into a multiplayer lobby.

A guild is a team of players. Creating one is free, and you can also join an existing guild. Guilds are ranked by their members' ELO; a guild needs at least 3 members to appear in the rankings, so a single player can't top the chart alone. VIP players can give their guild a custom icon, animated GIFs included.

The leaderboard ranks players worldwide, notably by level and multiplayer ELO. The Game of the Day has its own daily leaderboard, the Weekly Challenge a live weekly one, and guilds their own rankings. Your profile card shows your avatar, frame, title and the 2 stats of your choice (level, games, ELO, best streak, accuracy or wins).

Energy limits how many games free players can start: you hold up to 3 energy and get 1 back every 30 minutes. A game of GeoGamer, Maps, 2D Games, Survival, Speedrun, the Weekly Challenge, the Campaign (after level 5) or ranked multiplayer costs 1 energy. You also earn energy from the daily login bonus and Campaign milestones, and you can buy 1 for 800 coins. VIP players have unlimited energy.

The Game of the Day, TimeGuessr, EmojiGuessr, the first 5 levels of the Campaign, and joining a casual multiplayer lobby hosted by someone else. Plenty to keep playing while your energy refills.

By playing: every game pays out coins based on your score and the difficulty. You also earn coins from the daily login bonus (30 to 90 coins over a 7-day cycle, plus energy on some days), Campaign milestones every 5 levels and multiplayer wins. VIP players earn 2× coins and XP and get a boosted daily bonus (more coins, frames and titles).

In Personalization, spend your coins on avatars, backgrounds, titles (500 to 40,000 coins) and profile card frames (800 to 50,000 coins, including animated ones). Coins also buy energy (800 coins each) and username changes (300 coins).

Every game earns you XP that raises your level. Your level shows on your profile card, counts in the leaderboards and unlocks features, such as ranked multiplayer at level 5. VIP players earn 2× XP.

At the end of most modes (GeoGamer, Campaign, 2D Games, Speedrun, EmojiGuessr, TimeGuessr…), a button creates an image card with your score, ready to post on social media or send to friends.

Two plans with exactly the same perks: €2.99 per month, or €19.99 per year (that's €1.67 a month, 44% cheaper). Prices are billed in euros; if your card uses another currency, your bank handles the conversion. See the plans

The monthly plan starts with 3 free days: every VIP perk right away, nothing to pay today. If you keep VIP, you're charged €2.99 when the trial ends. Cancel before then from your subscription and you pay nothing; we send you a reminder the day before your trial ends. One free trial per player (per account, email address and card). The annual plan is paid upfront, without a trial.

You can cancel anytime from your subscription: your VIP stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Within 14 days of your subscription starting, canceling triggers an automatic full refund, and VIP ends immediately. All the details are in our refund policy.

Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe, one of the world's leading online payment providers, with bank-grade encryption. Your card details never touch our servers.

On the Help Us page, send your 360° panoramas (with their location on the game's map) or your 2D game screenshots. Every submission is reviewed before it's added to the game, and top contributors get their own leaderboard. Bonus: approved panoramas from 3 different games = 1 free month of VIP, as many times as you like. You can also suggest games on our Discord.

A VIP-only mode: you play community-submitted panoramas before they go live, rate their difficulty from 1 to 5 and report any that cause problems. You directly help keep the game's content top quality.

Your avatar, background, frame and title are changed in Personalization. Your username can be changed in Settings for 300 coins. The site is available in English and French: switch between them with the language selector.

In Settings, the "Delete Account" button removes your account. If you have a VIP subscription, cancel it first from your subscription. For any request about your personal data (access, correction, deletion), write to us; our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.
